Saveetha University is a vibrant community of learning. The University spans across two campuses, one at 162, Poonamallee and the other at Thandalam. Saveetha has already made its name as a quality teaching institution. Our next major goal is to achieve excellence in research. For this, we have made massive investments in research infrastructure and curriculum. We welcome students with high research aptitude and we assure quality research training that will make one proud. Every year, we look forward to mould young minds to do great service for the society. The history of Institutions of this flagship University goes back to 1986 when Saveetha Medical and Educational Trust was started to provide medical relief, to promote education and to encourage research. On 18th November 1988, Saveetha Dental College was established. Subsequently, in the year 1992 Saveetha College of Nursing, in 1993 College of Physiotherapy, in 2001 Saveetha Engineering College, in 2005 College of Engineering and Technology, in 2008 Saveetha Medical College and Saveetha School of Management and in 2009 Saveetha School of Law were started.

Saveetha College of Nursing is one of the constituent Colleges of the University, started in the year 1992 with an intake of 50 B.Sc (N) students. At present the College has B.SC(N) with 100 per annum intake, P.B.B.Sc(N) with 50 per annum intake and M.Sc(N) with 30 per annum intake comprising of 6 seats in speacialities such as Medical Surgical Nursing, Maternity Nursing, Child health Nursing, Mental health Nursing and Community Health Nursing. The nursing college is recognized by the Indian Nursing Council and also by the Tamilnadu Nurses & Midwives Council, Chennai. Saveetha University was declared Deemed to be University under section 3 of the UGC Act 1956, by the Government of India on 18th March 2005. Previously governed by Saveetha Medical and Educational Trust, it is now governed by the Chancellor Dr.N.M.Veeraiyan and managed by the Vice Chancellor Dr.R.Rajagopal.
